Fans of Butterfingers need to clear their schedule for 17 and 18 January now as those are the dates for "Sesi Istana Budaya Butterfingers". On those two dates, Butterfingers will perform back-to-back shows in its full line-up (the first since the release of "Kembali"); it'll also be the last chance you'll get to see the band live as they'll be going on an indefnite hiatus after that.

As we come closer to 2009, we've got loads of expectations and wishes that we want to see come true. Automatically though, we're hoping that we'll get many, many concerts in the coming year ... yep, we're an optimistic bunch despite past experiences of artistes being banned, protested against, etc etc.

Happy news to announce. See that tour schedule up there? Do you know who's coming for a concert in KL on 4 March? A hint: he's a singer-songwriter with lyrical wordplay like no other and happy-go-lucky songs, ahem ahem.

And why is he being recorded by Guardian.co.uk with his dad Eddy, cooking Chinese steamed pork terrine? Matthew Chee is more famously known as Matt Tong, the dummer for UK band Bloc Party. Did ya know that his dad is Malaysian?

We were bummed that Mystery Jets had to cancel their DJ set at the launch of WOW at Barsonic last Saturday due to a flight cancellation. But good news - Zouk is keeping true to their promise of a Mystery Jets DJ set and has scheduled it for this Friday.

Jens Lekman performance last night was probably the highlight of my week! Having missed his first show at Little Havana, I wasn't going to skip this for the world and I am so glad that I stuck to that. Were you there? What did you think of Jens and Viktor Sjoberg's performance? And how about the opening acts eh - Silent Scenery and Stoned Revivals?

You've heard of silent discos, haven't you? There are actually two different sorts. One involves participants wearing wi-fi headphones, grooving to music provided by a DJ on site. The other works sort of like a flashmob, where people gather at a spot and then dance to their own music coming from their mp3 players and whatever portable music device they may have. In 2005, Glastonbury was the first major music festival to introduce a silent disco tent but since then, other festivals like Reading and Bonnaroo Music & Arts Fest have taken on the silent disco concept. KL's been a little slow on the uptake, but we got news last week that a silent disco has been scheduled for 12 and 13 December!

Rihanna, Coldplay, Dashboard Confessional, Kylie Minogue ... what do these artists have in common? How about the fact that they're just very few of the artistes who have opted to skip Malaysia in favour of performing in Singapore. Crossing the Causeway to hit a concert is something we're all too familiar with and in 2009, it won't be any different seeing as artists like The Ting Tings, Prodigy, Fallout Boy, Duffy, The Cinematic Orchestra (and more in the Mosaic Music Festival!) are already confirmed for a show there. Which makes this article (Malaysian concerts slump after post-Beyonce clampdown) a pretty interesting read. God knows we don't want another embarassing PAS vs Avril Lavigne showdown ... give it a read and tell us what you think.

Jens Lekman, the Swedish singer-songwriter of the indie pop persuasion, will be returning to Malaysia for another performance! If any of you were at his debut KL show at Little Havana, you'll know just how charismatic Mr Lekman is live and how wonderful deadpan humour adds to his showmanship.

Is Friday taking toooo long to be over with? Here's something we found off the net which had us giggling for a good 15 minutes. Check out this clip of the Funky Fresh Senior Adult Choir who sings not hymns, but songs like Outkast's "Hey Ya" and Eminem's "Lose Yourself".
