For many Malaysians, 2008 was a year filled with milestones. At home the Pakatan Rakyat alliance, which did not even exist before March 8th, made the largest electoral gains of any opposition party in nearly 40 years; we witnessed the slow return of public approval for the battered judiciary; we worried about the ups and downs of petrol prices and its impact on other commodities.
As we turn towards the end of the year, the time for taking stock of our successes and failures, I usually get a bit introspective.
Back to writing about what I know best, I guess, food and beverage. It should be, that’s what I do. Or is it? Am I providing food and beverage or am I just an entertainer? Are people really coming to outlets for the menu, or is it something else? Just what are we providing?
